Could your dog have what it takes to be a police dog?

We’re always looking for dogs with the right drive, confidence, and temperament to excel in police work. If your dog is energetic, focused, and thrives on having a job to do, they might have the potential to join the ranks of operational police dogs.

At Valkyrie Police Dogs, we work with law enforcement agencies across the country to provide fully trained, reliable service dogs. If you think your dog could be a candidate, get in touch to arrange an assessment.

Assessments are by appointment only.

Ideal Candidate for Police Dog Training

We’re looking for dogs that are:

  • Age: Between 8 months and 2.5 years old

  • Confident in new environments and around different people

  • Sociable — friendly or neutral with people and other dogs

  • Energetic with high stamina

  • Play-driven — loves chasing and tugging toys

  • Focused and willing to work for rewards

  • Resilient — recovers quickly from loud noises or sudden surprises

  • Physically fit and healthy, with no known joint or health issues

Assessment Process
If you think your dog possesses the traits above, get in touch and we will send you forms to complete. Once returned, we’ll share a video guide showing exactly what we look for in a potential police dog.

We’ll then arrange an assessment:

  • Travelling to us will make the process quicker.

  • If we travel to you, there may be a delay

Before the assessment, we will request several videos of your dog. These videos help us see if your dog has the potential for police work, saving both time and unnecessary travel. The more videos you can send, the better. If we have to travel a long distance, we will usually request additional footage.
