PD Max has been busy
Following concerns for a person who had left their address, Max and his handler were called in to help locate them. Our four-legged officer used his nose to guide his handler straight to the person, who was then able to get the help they needed
Later, after a car crash where the driver fled the scene, officers were worried that they may be injured – so Max was on hand to lend a helping paw. He tracked through tough terrain and found them hiding in a wooded area, where they were arrested for multiple driving offences
Paw-fect work that goes to show our dogs, and their handlers, are always ready to spring into action when needed

PD Freya and her handler were asked to help their Serious Organised Crime colleagues with some arrest enquiries earlier today
The team were positioned at the back of the property when Freya’s handler spotted a male matching the description of their suspect
Freya then led mum down a long lane where they then successfully detained the person!
Incredible work from this dynamic duo

PD Flo and her handler PC Walker completed their re-handle course at the end of June. They are already out working hard and achieving brilliant results together!
PD Sven is the newest PD to the team and licensed this week with his handler PC Evans - they didn’t waste any time and were straight out the door to operational jobs!
Well done teams! We’ll be sure to keep you up to date with their successes.
PD Santo
Nottinghamshire Police
A new dog has been welcomed to the ranks after coming through weeks of training with an experienced handler.
PD Santo, a one-year-old Belgian Malinois, was recruited from a breeder in Bristol earlier this year and quickly impressed with his intensity and desire to work.
Over the last eight weeks he and his handler have been practising all the core disciplines of dogs policing – including, tracking, searching and detaining suspects.
Those skills were put to test by an independent examiner on Wednesday last week, and the pair passed with flying colours.
As a general purpose dog, Santo will be expected to support with a wide range of incidents – from public order deployments to missing people searches.
Chief Inspector Andy Reynolds, in charge of dogs policing , said: "We are lucky in Nottinghamshire to have such an excellent team of trainers.
“It is thanks to their knowledge and professionalism that we’ve been able to pair this officer with a new dog so soon after the retirement of his previous animal
“PD Santo has really excelled over the last few weeks and has shown himself to be an excellent tracker of people and property.
“I know that together they will do an excellent job in protecting the people of Nottinghamshire."

NEWS: Suspected wine thief mulls over actions in the cells
We know it’s a little bit early to mention ‘Christmas’…but we want to share with you a little tale of how our officers and PD Rocco stopped a mulled wine thief in his tracks.
Over the weekend (Sunday 5 October) a trailer and container with over £110,000s worth of mulled wine on board was stolen from the Kent area.
Yesterday, (Tuesday 7 October) as the HGV, believed to be being driven on false registration plates attempted to transport the container through South Yorkshire, a plan by roads policing officers and a dog handler was put into action.
The officers brought the vehicle to a stop on Hooton Road, it wasn’t long before the driver fled the vehicle and attempted to run.
Quick on his paws, PD Rocco and his handler challenged the suspect and within seconds he thought against running and surrendered.
Officers carried out a search of the shipping container and trailer and found approximately 26 pallets of mulled wine on board.
The 45-year-old was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence or insurance, driving while disqualified, and following a search of him, possession of Class A and Class B drugs.
Roads Policing Inspector Matt Collings tells us more, he said: “Our role as roads policing officers is to create safer roads and intercept those who use the road network to commit criminality; although the two seem separate, they are interlinked in so many ways.
“We know that those involved in criminality are more likely to take greater risks on the roads and this driver is a true example. He was a disqualified driver, in possession of drugs, driving a vehicle and trailer with the ability to cause serious damage and fatalities if involved in a collision.
“This was a great result for officers who recovered the stolen property and arrested a suspect.”
The man has been remanded into custody for driving offences, and released on police bail while for theft while our investigation progresses.
Great work by the Operational Support Unit and PD Rocco.

We’ve had a fantastic two days delivering some CPD in Sheffield for South Yorkshire Police’s GP Dog event. A whopping 17 forces showed up for two days of learning. Huge thanks to South Yorkshire Police for hosting such a well-organised and forward-thinking event — and to every attendee who brought their energy, questions, and commitment to developing modern, effective police dog training.
We’re proud to be part of this movement toward more informed, progressive training in police dog work — and events like this are a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when we come together to learn. #policedogs #dogtrainer #dogtraining #policedogsales #policedog #policedogtraining
